One of my goals in our home office makeover was to make it more functional. Previously, we really had no systems for organization or places to keep all of our papers and craft supplies. We were constantly losing important papers and wasting so much time searching for the things we needed.
One thing I wanted to add were some bulletin boards so that we’d have a place to tack up important papers, display inspiring quotes, and hold other cute memorabilia. However, I really can’t stand the look of plain old cork board and I wanted to do something different than your average wood framed bulletin boards. So after some brainstorming and puttering around in the garage, I came up with these coffee sack covered bulletin boards.
I had purchased the bulletin boards at TJMaxx about 6 months ago and they originally looked like this…I also had picked up some large burlap coffee sacks at our local craft store months ago that I had been saving for just the right project to come along.
So I disassembled the bulletin boards, cut the coffee sacks down to a little bigger than the cork board, and attached it to the cork with spray adhesive.
Before I put it all back together again, I used the same painting technique as I did on the file cabinets to paint the wood frames. The writing is a little wonky, but that’s just part of the charm of old coffee bean sacks.I hung them vertically in the middle of the plank wall because I’m still planning to add a few industrial pipe shelves on either side. Not only did this project turn out pretty cute, but it was cheap and super easy too!
